Titanic Mill

This 7-storey cotton mill was constructed in 1911, the year the ship of the same name was commissioned. Its imposing structure led to it becoming known locally as Titanic Mill.

The specification was for cost effective systems for sound, vision and lighting throughout the ground floor that did not compromise on quality and offered flexibility. The background music system was required to play different music in different areas at different volumes. This was particularly important in the 20 therapy rooms, so music (and lighting) could be adjusted to suit the wide range of treatments. A hard drive music system was the preferred option - "there's nothing worse than skipping discs" - but the facility to use CD's for one-off events was also required.

Link4Life Middleton Arena

Having undertaken several projects for Link4Life over the last three years at sites throughout the Borough of Rochdale, Unique Systems were given the opportunity to create a total audio visual, digital messaging system and lighting solution for the proposed £14.3 Middleton Arena.

The remit from Link4Life was to design a 'WOW' factor into the site by utilising LED lighting to three main areas: the main gym, the overflow gym and the dance studio. The design team at Unique were also asked to provide a full multi source background sound system capable of linking into the fire alarm evacuation system along with the main site PA system and a stand alone local sound system to provide music into the studio.

Aberdeen Sports Village

Endorsed by Sir Alex Ferguson, Aberdeen Sports Village is a partnership between Aberdeen City Council, the University of Aberdeen and sportscotland. This modern, vibrant new facility which has been developed on the site of the Chris Anderson Stadium is a £24m project to create a leisure destination for Aberdeen, the surrounding area and the City's university population. The development is a 'dry' arena providing space for a whole host of activities.

Unique Systems were taken to the project as part of a team providing the Fitness solution, i.e. the equipment supply and fitness entertainment system.

Systems need to be versatile to suit the size and scope of pubs, which varies. As well as being user-friendly controls must offer the staff options, which enable them to change the ambiance to suit the different brands. Within each of these variations in atmosphere are required during the course of a day's service, such as changes to colour and brightness of lighting.
